Having a severely ill child is nothing short of a heart-wrenching experience. The families of these children are regularly faced with stressful situations. This is not a burden that should be carried alone. Ronald McDonald House Charities Curacao (RMHCC) aims to support families of seriously-ill, injured or hospitalized children, where possible. Whether emotional, social or even financial challenges we strive to lighten the load for families, for the benefit of a more positive experience.

Every year RMHCC helps between 1.800 to 2.000 families with their core program, the Ronald McDonald Family Room. They grant families the possibility to stay close to each other and the medical care they need. The family room offers a space that creates a “home-away-from-home” ambiance within the hospital so families can relax, catch their breath and re-energize. The space includes a play area for kids, a kitchen, laundry facilities plus 3 bedrooms for parents to stay in. Services are not limited to the hospital walls, however. RMHCC’s reach further extends to families whose children receive outpatient care as well as addressing other (non-medical) challenges that parents of severely ill children face.
